there was  plenty at stake on the point rd on sunday evening when o'mahoneys and dreadnots met, a win for the home side would guarantee div.1 football next year and a win for the dreadnots would see the contest the semi-final of the cardinall o'donnell

dreadnots,missing a number of regulars through injury and holidays,opened the scoring through peter kirwan and after two  more points from ciaran cunningham and james califf they led 0-03 to 0-01 after 5min, o'mahoneys the kicked into gear and registered seven of the next eight scores two of them were well taken goals and they deservedly led 2-06 to 0-06 at the break

the second half saw a gritty and determined showing from the home side and ultimately this was reflective on the score board as thy held the dreadnots to just 3points and adding another 1-05 of their own leaving the final score 3-11 to 0-09

as a result of this o'mahoneys remain in div.1 for next season ans dreadnots through score difference will contest the semi-final
