dreadnots continued their rise up the senior ranks by reaching their first cardinal o'donnell final in 23 years with a convincing win over senior championship finalists newtown blues on saturday evening. blues with home advantage were favorates to advance but they never lived up to that tag as dreadnots dominated from start to finish.
james califf who was dominant for the winners opened the scoring on 30sec and the blues then leveled it.dreadnots then stamped their authority on the game with 2 more points from califf and a goal from anthony lynch.conor campbell then scored a point to leave it 1-4 to 0-2.dreadnots at this stage were on top in all departments and the half time score line reflected this as it read 1-7 to 0-3
the blues started strongest in the second half and scored three unanswered points to cut the deficite to 4pt on 35min 1-7 to 0-3 but that was the closest the drogheda men came to the eventuall winners. dreadnots then pilled the pressure on and as a result of some poor tackling from the blues califf kicked another 3 frees 1-10 to 0-06 50min. the blues needed a goal at this stage a good save from niall levins in the dreadnots denied them and then a brave block from derek shevlin sealed the blues faith as the seasiders went on to win 1-10 to 0-07
