Na Piarsaigh started their Division 2 campaign on a positive note with a 1-7 to 0-6 win over Clan Na Gael at the Rock Road on Tuesday night. The home team had the better of the first half exchanges and if not for some wayward shooting, could have been further ahead at half time then 1-5 to 0-3. Mark Larkin was their chief scorer with 1-2, the goal coming from a penalty just before half time. Stephen Fitzpatrick, Colin Finnegan and Mark McGeown registered the Clans first half scores.

Clans improved in the second half but kicked a number of wides before reducing the deficit to 3 with points from Ray McCabe and Paul Martin. Niall Franklin and Des McCann then pointed to give Na Piarsaigh a 1-7 to 0-5 lead with 10 minutes remaining. Clans pushed forward in search of scores but a point from Drew Duffy with 5 minutes remaining proved to be the last score of the game.
