In very poor weather conditions it was the visitors who dominated from start to finish. The Nicks raced into a five point lead idway through the half, the pick of these scores, a sideline ball put over by philip smith. The mitchells gained some possession for a ten minute period putting up their two points, one free and one from play. A goal from the impressive Sean Donnelly finished the scoring for the first half.
The second half continued in the same vane as the first with all the Nicks forwards getting on the scoresheet and the defensive keeping the mitchells scoreless. Both teams were reduced to 14 men midway through the half, but with goals from Keith Cluskey and Dale Thornton put the victory in no doubt.
