Championship fever has taken over as the hurlers of Knockbridge and Mattock Rangers and the footballers of Glen Emmets and St Fechins made their final preparations for their respective championship finals on Sunday. Knockbridge HC will be out to regain the Paddy Kelly Cup having relinquished their title to Naomh Moninne last year in The Grove, Castlebellingham. On the other hand, Mattock Rangers HC are appearing in their first ever Senior Hurling Championship Final. Just one point separated the teams in the earlier round of the championship and supporters can be rest assured that a close encounter will be expected in Páirc Uí Mhuire in Dunleer. Throw-in is 2pm with Naomh Moninne's Brian Brady, the man with the whistle. The Junior Football Champiosnhip Final encounter sees the grades two form teams battle it out for the Christy Bellew Cup. The Tullyallen outfit have performed very well throughout their league campaign and transferred this form into their championship run though they did need a replay to get over Lannleire in the semi-final. On the other side of the draw, St Fechins have excelled in the higher league grade in Division 2 this year, finishing comfortably in the top half of the table. Their championship campaign has been admittedly topsy turvy but they will be hoping to put their best foot forward on Sunday and claim their first championship win since 1984. It promises to be another close encounter. Best wishes to all teams taking part.
