There was a huge attendance of 114, including 90 voting delegates at the Annual Convention of the Louth Minor Football Board which was held in the impressive Darver Centre of Excellence. All outgoing officers were returned, three clubs were presented with their club of the year awards and the meeting was addressed by Paraic O'Connor, Chairman Louth County Committee, Mr David Cranny from DKIT and Tomás McNamee Louth Minot Football Team Manager for 2011. Brendan Carthy in his chairman's address to the convention emphasised the importance of goverance, the standard to be attained in the club of the year awards and Ógsport. Brendan called for the active participation and engagement of club delegates throughout the year and said that constructive and meaningful feedback was required to get a true picture of what was happening on the ground. Brendan said it would do your heart good to see what clubs were achieving and they were setting the standards for the rest to follow. The minor chairman said that Ógspórt was not a buzz word but a plain and simple system to promote the games at the child strand level. Participation in 2010 was very impressive and it has to have the respect and support of everybody. In conclusion Brendan sais it was time to quit the talking and get on with the work. Mr David Cranny from DKIT addressed the meeting. David is head of the Community Sports Leadership Course in DKIT, which has forty graduates per year.He is a member of the GAA Club there and also involved witht he freshers team in the college. David underlined the importance of the link between the college and Louth GAA and said that there are seven ex or current members of the Louth Minor Football Team studying there. Mr Padraig O'Connor Chairman Louth County Committee wished the Minor Board well and said it was good to witness good work being done. The regional competions organised this year at under age level were exciting and he said the Senior Board are to do the same for 2011. Padraic wished Tomás McNamee well in his job as minor manager and John Grogan in his capacity as coaching officer. Paraic announced that he was holding a special convention in February to address the matter of the Drogheda Minor Football Board and Cumann Lu Lar Theas. This statement drew some curious questions from a number of delegates and there was surprise when the Minor Board Chairman said he knew nothing about this. Tomás McNamee Louth Minor Football Team manager outlined his plans for 2011 and gave details of his back up team. Co-operation and continuity were the key to succes he said, there was no need to be continually re-inventing the system he thanked the regional mentors and wished John Grogan the best in 2011. There were no motions for discussion and this is an indication that the system is O K and that the games are running acording to plan. P.J.Geraghty, PRO, presented the winners of the Hugh O'Hare Club of the Year awards , St Fechin's, Kilkerley Emmets and Naomh Máirtín with their certificates and €500.
